Fully automatic CNC-controlled key milling machines

Fully automatic CNC-controlled key longitudinal profile milling machine

Patented process - cycle time 5.5 sec
With this system, AUMAT offers a patented solution for milling variable key longitudinal profiles for master key systems. Thanks to a patented milling process, only a limited number of shank profile cutters are required despite the high number of variants. This results in several advantages:

This results in several advantages:

  • Reduced costs for cutter procurement and sharpening
  • Low effort required for cutter adjustment
  • Reduced setup times
  • Better accessibility to the stations
  • Favorable conditions for chip extraction

This is how the patented milling process works:
The (identical) milling stations are arranged in the required number for the first shank side of the key (e.g., 3 or 4 units) peripherally around a precision rotary indexing table, and the same again for the second shank side.
Each station has only a single cutter. As a rule, this has 4 milling segments offset in the axial direction, of which only one milling segment engages per milling pass (shifted under control).
In this way, each station mills 2 variants of the shank, e.g., A and B, according to the rule "with A/with B - without A/without B - with A/without B - without B/with A".
